Grade Star is a free iPhone app from Physicsway for tracking course grades. Enter your scores as they come back, and it shows your current grade, forecasts where you’ll finish, and works out the score you need on the final exam to reach the grade you’re aiming for.

It follows your own syllabus: weighted categories, points or percentages, dropped scores, a final that replaces your lowest exam, extra credit, and each course’s own grading scale. Add all your courses and it works out your term GPA as well.

There is no account, no advertising, and no subscription. Your grades stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account, where they are backed up automatically.

PageScan is a free iPhone app from Physicsway that turns handwritten homework into a clean PDF in three taps. It finds the edges of the page, straightens it, and drops out the shadows, so what you hand in looks like a scan rather than a photo of a desk.

It is built for handwritten work: pencil stays visible, paper comes out white, and the letters stay solid black. Scan as many pages as the assignment needs, name the file, and share it straight to Google Classroom, Canvas, Mail, or Files.

There is no account, no advertising, and no cloud — nothing ever leaves your phone. PageScan does not solve your homework; it only scans it.

Map Star is a US states and capitals quiz for children, and the question is asked out loud: “What is the capital of Indiana?” The child answers by speaking, which takes real recall — unlike multiple choice, there is nothing to guess from.

Six ways to play: name a state’s capital, name the state from its capital, from its two-letter abbreviation, or from its nickname; find the state on the map and tap it; or mix the spoken quizzes together. Progress is tracked state by state, and practice sets of ten drill the ones that need work.

Answers are recognized on the device itself, so a child’s voice never leaves the iPhone or iPad. There is no account, no advertising, and nothing is collected. A child who would rather type can tap “Type it” instead.
